The famous theater, concert hall & ballroom "Tivoli" has a long and lively history. First mentioned as such in 1894, the present-day's building was erected after a fire had destroyed its predecessor in 1906. It was then renowned as "the largest and most beautiful establishment in the Ore Mountains".
The "Tivoli" experienced various renovations and alterations over time, but its appeal dwindled in the beginning of the 1990s and it had to close in 1994, after having survived so many historical and political changes for 100 years.
A revival was attempted in 1999 by a private initiative, but the final curtain fell in 2015. Since then the place lies abandoned and dormant, waiting for its reawakening.
